Clean Your Leather Shoe

Leather footwear. You love the look and durability of leather, so you have a drawer full of leather shoes, boots, and accessories. Learning the proper way to clean leather shoes will extend the life of your footwear and keep it looking great for years. All you have to do is comply with these guidelines.

Guideline:

First Step: Remove the Lace

If they are soiled, wash them in the washing machine or dispose of them.

Second Step: Remove Loose Dirt and Debris

You can take a soft cloth or even a brush to clean any dirt from the leather surfaces of the shoe.

Third Step: Apply soap

Soak a soft cloth in a mix of warm water & dish soap, wring it out, and wipe the external areas of the shoe.

Fourth Step: Wipe Off Soap

To dry using a towel. Use a second moist, clean cloth to remove the soap. You can also use Warm, soapy water to eliminate water stains and scratches.

Fifth Step: Condition your Leather

you can apply a leather conditioner to prevent stains and improve the sheen. You may purchase a leather conditioner or make your own by combining equal parts vinegar and linseed oil. Apply on leather, allow to sit for approximately fifteen minutes, and polish with a soft cloth till the leather is lustrous.

Sixth Step: Dry

Allow your shoes and boots to air-dry outdoors. Avoid placing them in direct sunlight or near a heater since doing so could lead the leather to fade or fracture.

How to Clean Stains Off Leather Shoes

Stains are inevitable, but they need not destroy your beloved shoes. Utilize these tips to clean leather. 

Oil or Grease

On-site application of baking soda or cornstarch With a moist towel, rub it gently. Allow to rest for many hours or overnight. Remove the powder using a gentle cloth. The carbon dioxide and starch would absorb the oil.

Ink

Soak a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover and dab the spot lightly. If you rub, you may cause the ink to spread. Gently blot the stain until it disappears. Utilize a clean, moist cloth and a towel to dry the surface.

Scuffs

You can clean leather using toothpaste. Use a gentle cloth to rub. Apply a small amount of the non-gel type to the damaged area.

Other Spots

Create a paste from equal amounts of lemon juice & cream of tartar. Please apply to the stained area and allow it to sit for thirty minutes. Utilize a wet towel to eliminate the paste. Because lemon juice and cream of tartar have a minor bleaching effect, you should only use it on leather of lighter hues.
